We have received a lot of interest in response to our proposal that the ASN schedule a session to help and mentor new members on telescope basics. Thus, we are scheduling a meeting for Friday, April 28, 2023.

This festival consists of several open houses and campus museums open at UNR, and around Reno. The three UNR campus museums open, free of charge, are the Museum of Natural History, the W.M. Keck Earth Science and Mineral Engineering Museum, and the Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center.
We are offering a beginner's introduction to telescope basics. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in learning how to set up and use a telescope. We will provide one-on-one mentoring with our experienced members, and you will also have the chance to try out different telescopes. This is a great way to learn more about astronomy and to decide if a telescope is right for you.
ASN has the opportunity to witness two major solar events in the next 13 months; an annular solar eclipse in eastern Nevada in October 2023 and then in April 2024 a total solar eclipse will cross 13 states from Texas to Maine.
The Friends of Nevada Wilderness has been working with the DMV to launch a Nevada Dark Sky Specialty License Plate. Artwork for the license plate is currently being sought. The deadline is April 1, 2023. There will be a $500 prize for the selected artwork. Read the attached pdf for design specs.
April 15, 2023 at the National Automobile Museum. Setup is between 9-10 am. Viewing from 10 -2 pm. Come join the Girl Scouts Space Odyssey 2023. At the promting of Liongate TV Productions, after 8 months of planning, we held our star party at Middlegate Station, NV on November 14, 2022 for an upcoming TV show.
ASN still has a need for volunteers.
The burgers were great, the lighting was perfect, and the weather cooperated. All in all a great evening! -- August's Markleeville Star Pary was a great summer success.
