So how did things go at Redfield yesterday? We easily had several hundred people at the planetarium yesterday. I had two scopes set up, one white light and the other Ha. Long lines, but everyone seemed happy. I guess the lesson learned is that no matter how much we promote Redfield, most people will still automatically think of the planetarium first if anything astronomical occurs. So we may want to have someone at the planetarium anytime a major event occurs.

Although the clouds came in right at the height of the eclipse, we we still able to catch glimpses of the 'ring' during occassional gaps in the clouds.

Yeah we had a cloud occultation for about 50% of the ring event. We saw the ring for about a minute.
It was blocked for blocked for a couple of minutes and we say the last minute of the ring. The parking
lot was full and people were parking across the street at Raleys.

I set up my Stellarvue 115T refractor on an Alt/Az mount and put my Canon 7D at prime focus. I took several dozen shots as the eclipse progressed. I had a lot of visitors taking peeks through the camera view finder.

I am not sure how many people were at Redfield campus. The lot was full and people were eventually parking at the shopping centers across both streets. I talked with people from the states of Florida, Michigan, Washington, Oregon, and of course California.

Yet with all those people, mine was the only bike at the bike rack on Redfield Campus. One of the perks of using an obscure vehicle.

Tim, ironic you were at the planetarium while I was at Redfield, being that I live so near the planetarium and likely it is fully twice as far as Redfield from where you live. :P
